Baked Beans

Ingredients
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/4 pound ground beef (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons onion, diced
  • 1/4 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup canned tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 15 ounce can pork n' beans or white navy beans
Directions
  • 1. In skillet, fry bacon until crisp. Crumble into pieces and set aside.
  • 2. In large saucepan, brown ground beef, onion and green pepper. Drain grease.
  • 3. Add tomatoes, brown sugar, molasses, salt, black pepper and chili powder. Stir in beans and prepared bacon.
  • 4. Cook on low heat 1 hour or longer until well blended and thick.
