Apple Crisp

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 medium apples
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, slightly softened
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 8"x 8" baking dish or 8" pie plate.
  • 2. Wash, peel and core apples. Slice thinly and place in prepared dish.
  • 3. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples and toss lightly.
  • 4. In mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar and flour.
  • 5. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Scatter over apples.
  • 6. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.*

Tips

*It requires this amount of time for the apples to cook. After baking 30 minutes, cover top with foil to prevent over browning, if needed. Do not seal foil.

Leftovers should be covered with wax paper or parchment paper to preserve crispness.

Caramel Apple Sundaes
Directions
  • 1. Fill individual serving bowls with apple crisp.
  • 2. Add scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • 3. Drizzle caramel topping over all.
  • 4. Top with toasted pecan halves and serve.
  • To toast pecans: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread pecans in single layer on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until toasted.
