Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
  • 1. In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  • 2. Add eggs, vanilla and milk.
  • 3. In another bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add gradually to creamed mixture. Mix well. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  • 4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 5. Place dough on floured board. Roll 1/4" to 1/2" thick (1/2" for softer cookies). Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  • 6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until center is set and not doughy.
  • 7. Cool. Decorate with buttercream frosting or cookie glaze.
