Snickerdoodles

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • 2. In mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, sugar and egg.
  • 3. In another bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
  • 4. Gradually stir flour mixture into creamed mixture until well blended.
  • 5. In another bowl, mix 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon.
  • 6. Shape into 1" balls and roll in sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  • 7. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 8. Bake 10 minutes or until tops are cracked and cookies are lightly browned. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
