Peanut Butter Bars

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup dry milk powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 9"x 13" baking pan.
  • 2. In mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and brown sugar.
  • 3. Add eggs, vanilla and 1/2 cup peanut butter. Mix well.
  • 4. In another bowl, combine flour, dry milk powder, baking soda and oats. Add to creamed mixture and stir until blended.
  • 5. Spread in prepared pan and bake 18 to 20 minutes. Cool. It is normal for bars to flatten in center. Trim edges, if desired.
  • 6. Whip 1/2 cup peanut butter with hand mixer. Spread on bars.
  • 7. Refrigerate until cold. Frost.

Frosting
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
  • 1. Place butter, water, and cocoa in saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  • 2. Remove from heat. Mix in powdered sugar. Add vanilla.
