1. Mix sugar, cocoa, milk and butter in heavy saucepan.
2. Bring to a full boil over medium heat and boil one minute.
3. Remove from heat.
4. Add peanut butter, oats and vanilla. Stir until blended.
5. Drop by tablespoons onto wax paper.* Let cool until set.

* If cookies do not hold shape when spooned onto paper, beat with spoon until mixture thickens.
