1. In a small bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water. Let stand until dissolved, about 5 minutes.
2. In mixer bowl, combine egg, sugar, salt and butter. Stir in hot water. Add milk, yeast mixture and 1¼ cups flour. Beat until smooth, about 30 seconds.
3. Gradually mix in remaining 1 cup flour and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
4. Form into a ball and place in greased bowl. Cover with clean kitchen cloth and let rise until double, about 1 hour.
5. Grease 9" round baking pan.
6. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Lightly flour hands as needed.
7. Roll each piece in your hands, tucking ends under to make a smooth top (This takes some practice – the rolls will still taste good even if they don’t look perfect.)
8. Place rolls in prepared pan. Cover and let rise until double, at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
9. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
