Celia and Judy are sisters who were born 18 months apart in a one-room hospital in the hills of Tennessee. Best friends since infancy, they grew up sharing the same room and the same clothes. After completing high school, they enrolled in the same university located out west in the Rocky Mountains. This is where they met and married their sweethearts, raised their children and in the process, developed their cooking skills.
After almost 100 years combined cooking experience, plus several requests from family and friends, Celia and Judy compiled a cookbook. To accommodate the newlyweds in both families, the project became the “I Do” Cookbook for the Bride and Groom. The authors feel that the traditions of home-cooking and family meals should not be lost in a busy world, as these gatherings foster love and understanding and a warm sense of belonging to that place called Home.
To our mother. Mavis Gibson, one of the greatest of the celebrated "Southern Cooks." Our Mom could create a gourmet meal on a wood stove using nothing but yesterday's leftovers -- mixed with imagination and love. Thank you, Mom, for teaching us how to cook. We hope to share your gift with a new generation as they gather to savor the meals and memories served up around the kitchen table. This cookbook is for all who treasure the traditions of home.
